Happy Birthday, Tarezo!
Apr. 4th, 2008 @ 11:56 pm
Been a crazy, cram-packed week--topped off with a 5.0 earthquake tonight out of Ibaraki that had us late-stayers at work scrambling to steady racks. Am looking forward to having some quiet hours at home tomorrow so I can get the darn thing on Aniki done and up.
But what with April 4 being the birthday of one of my fondest of cartoon heroes, Unko-tarezo (known on the racetrack as Midori Makibaoh), and the recent announcement that anison juggernaut JAM Project will make their U.S. debut at Otakon in August, I can't let today end without posting this MAD movie that first appeared last November on Nikoniko Douga, and on Youtube soon after. Set to JAM Project's epic song "Gong" (from game "Super Robot Wars Alpha 3"), it's a dynamic distillation of the essence of 1996-97 anime series "Midori no Makibaoh." Gets me every time...
Man, I'd love to go to Otakon and see JAM Project. *sigh* Ah well. More tomorrow!
Man, Cascade has a gait like a bunch of 2-by-4s falling out of a pickup truck...
*bwa-ha-ha!* Sure, but his feet hit the ground in the right order. Every Thoroughbred in the show gallops realistically, except
Cascade and Makibaoh.
And Bare Knuckle. *shudder*
Cascade has that exaggerated gallop; Makibaoh can move from a realistic gallop to the Mustang Special, where he sprints like a Quarter Horse. Their gaits being improvements on the norm give them a potential edge over horses that gallop normally. (Kinda like Nihilator in real life.) ...Who, me, defensive over liking this show? ;^)
Yay, now the audio works-! (Always a plus...) Awesome song--I love how it started to sound like Queen toward the middle!--and an excellent job of editing on the video, especially the shot of the "unwashed masses" doing the choral part!
Hey, I ain't gonna bust your chops about liking Makibaoh-! It's a good show! I'm just sayin', you know, that Cascade looked a mite bit... funny in a couple of shots, is all. (If Cascade TRIMMED HIS FREAKING MANE, he might not be so overbalanced and he could run with his nose more than 2 inches from the turf...) And they got the Clydesdale and the Pacing Mongolian Horse into the video, so it's all good, right? :)
That's actually not the only JAM Project song that gets a Queen thing going on...you should check 'em out!
Let Cascade's mane be a lesson to you, kids--don't style your horsie's hair after Rikiishi's...! The video got in snatches of lots of moments I'd forgotten--baby Cascade at his dead mother's side, the Mouse Hospital, Mori Arrow...*snfl*
You should come to Otakon and do a panel on anison :D
Hee! We both
should! Part of it could be about anison lives in Japan, and part of it could be about how someone can meet their favorite performer even outside Japan...if they're brave enough to do it, as you were!
Otakon should pay you to produce a program book for the JAM Project show, with bios, background on the shows the playlist is from, romanji of the lyrics and translations of the songs. Because aside from DBZ and Pokemon I fear most of the 'usual attendees' won't have a f'sking CLUE like we have, of the coolness and the power. Oh, the kiddies will attend because, dude, it's a JAPANESE CONCERT! Bring the Pocky and lightsticks! but I don't think they're really 'get' it.
And it's killing me this is going on and I can't go. Man, if Mizuki decides to jump on board...argh.
Hah? I don't have any exclusive photos, so nothing to sell. Heck, I'd write the bios and backgrounds for free! Have got the set list for the Japan stops on the tour, so figure I'll work on getting up at least romaji for those songs' lyrics on Anison Central for now. Several members are slated for Super Robot Spirits the week after next; if I thought I had a prayer of going to Otakon, I'd try for a media pass for SRS to get some photos or even snatches of video there to use on a panel. But, I don't. *sigh*
JAM Project is the one thing... the ONE thing that could get me to staff again... and they got them. XD
Ya KNOW what they say...once you're in the life, you can never really get out....
Hee! You're so lucky!! Hey, do they need
bios or lyrics or anything? I'd be glad to donate anything. They're doing a tremendous thing, getting JAM Project, and I'd love to do anything to help.
